The eCitySevilla project participates in Climathon Seville 2021 through the proposal of an interesting challenge: how to apply the circular economy to this public-private initiative already underway. The challenge launched to the participants of Climathon consists of putting forward proposals, or project ideas or specific actions on how to incorporate circularity to eCitySevilla, in general and/or in each of the working groups.

Climathon is a city-based programme created by the European organisation EIT Climate-KIC. It is a kackathon that takes place in more than 140 cities around the world, in 48-hour days, with the aim of seeking innovative solutions and ideas for adaptation and the fight against climate change. At the heart of the programme is an ideathon organised by passionate local organisers; the people who know their cities and climate challenges best.

In this case, eCitySevilla aims to create the city of the future, decarbonising the area around the PCT Cartuja by 2025, 25 years ahead of the targets set by the United Nations. The project’s different working groups have been working along these lines for almost two years: energy, sustainable mobility, building and digitalisation.

Climathon Seville will take place from 19 to 21 November. The event is open to the participation of companies, institutions, associations, students, innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs and also technicians and professionals. Participation will take place in multidisciplinary teams of 3 to 5 people divided between two challenges. More information here.
